Application Instructions for International Students
Four steps: submit your application, receive admission and pay tuition, apply for a Canadian Study Permit, and arrive in Canada.
Submit Application Materials (items 1–7, all required)
- Application form — completed, signed, and dated by both parent and student.
- Letter of recommendation — completed, signed, and dated by a teacher at the student's current school.
- Application fee of CAD $300 (non-refundable) — payable by cash, personal cheque, money order or bank draft, made out to The Duncan Academy.
- Official school transcripts from Grade 9 to present (notarized Chinese or English copies).
- Copy of the student's valid passport or birth certificate.
- For students under 18, two guardianship documents:
- Notarized Parental Authorization — copy, prepared in the home country.
- Notarized Custodianship Declaration — original, prepared in Toronto.
* Guardianship forms are available at vfs-canada.com.cn/chinese.
Students 18 or older must provide details for a Toronto-based contact person.
- Guardians must provide Canadian ID — a notarized copy of a Citizenship Card, passport, birth certificate, or Permanent Resident card (or originals presented for verification).
Admission Notice & Tuition Payment
- Within one week of receiving the complete application and finishing review, a pre-admission letter and tuition invoice will be issued — picked up in person or mailed to the student, guardian, or admissions agent.
- Pay tuition by certified cheque, money order, bank draft, or wire transfer (wire details on tdacanada.com), made out to The Duncan Academy.
- Once tuition and all related materials are received, the Principal issues an official Letter of Acceptance.
- The official acceptance letter and tuition receipt are delivered to the student/guardian/agent, ready to be used for the Canadian Study Permit application.
Apply for a Canadian Study Permit
- The first application must be made outside Canada.
- Submit the official Letter of Acceptance from The Duncan Academy together with all guardianship documents (for students under 18) to the Canadian Embassy or Consulate.
- Submit any other required supporting documents alongside the application.
