Our Faculty
A professional faculty team.
Mr. Harris brings nearly 40 years of teaching experience. He is a seasoned secondary school principal and education administrator, as well as a specialist in educational research — author of the widely used Ginn – Journeys in K12 Reading and Math.
He has long focused on K12 instructional guidance and assessment while continually introducing new pedagogical ideas and teaching methods into the classroom. Under Mr. Harris's leadership, The Duncan Academy has repeatedly earned recognition from education authorities and has grown into a boutique private high school with a stable teaching system and clear management.
Faculty Team
All teachers at The Duncan Academy hold professional credentials, with most being Ontario Certified Teachers (OCT). They bring strong subject-area backgrounds and substantial classroom experience.
Beyond classroom instruction, teachers also follow each student's learning process and adjust accordingly. In day-to-day teaching, they respond to students' understanding, pace, and shifts in performance with timely feedback. The classroom atmosphere stays relaxed, but expectations remain steady — students are guided not just to complete the material, but to build sound learning habits along the way.
Many teachers hold degrees from leading universities and are familiar with the Canadian university application process. Beyond teaching, they also advise students on course selection and academic direction based on each student's goals.
AP / IB & Advanced Courses
In addition to the regular curriculum, the faculty team also teaches and supports AP / IB programs.
AP and IB ask more than subject knowledge — they demand reading, writing, analysis, and expression at a higher level. Teachers therefore train these skills alongside the curriculum rather than simply covering content. For students on the AP / IB pathway, instructors provide additional support based on individual progress, including focused review, assignment feedback, study-method adjustments, and stage-by-stage reinforcement.
In several subjects, teachers also bring competition and advanced-course mentoring experience, helping students build a more complete academic profile before applying to university.
